Cultural guardian and historian Viviana Enrique Acosta has over forty years of experience as a curator, arts administrator, choreographer, performance artist, dance theatre director, playwright, actor, composer, instructor, and culture bearer in San Diego. She is the CEO and Artistic Director of the Ballet Folklorico en Aztlan (BFA). She is also a co-founder and the artistic director of Muevete Dance Studio. Viviana is distinguished as one of the youngest California Arts Council Artists in Residence awardees for her work in dance. She aims to teach ancient knowledge and wisdom to future generations and to share her two-spirit vision of a sacred life. Vivian was inducted into San Diego Women's Hall of Fame as a Cultural Guardian/Historian in 2015 for her vital role in educating the public about Mexican heritage. Through dance and other artistic mediums, Viviana inspires present and future generations about the beauty and rich history of Mexico and the nation's traditions--imperative to the reasoning behind her induction into the San Diego Women's Hall of Fame under the title of "historian."
